The nearest airport is Brest (70km) and the nearest port of Roscoff is just 55km away. Pontrieux is only 7km from the manoir. The nearest shops and bars can be found in Brelidy and for supermarkets, Begard and Pontrieux are both less than 10 minutes away by car. The Rose Granite coast, with its picturesque beaches, is the perfect place to go to sun bathe, relax and explore the many small coves and rock pools. There is a wide choice of beaches, including the tremendous St Quay Portrieux, Plogrescant and Perros Guirec, which means that you have the choice of secluded sandy beaches or busier promenades. You can also visit local towns and charming harbours. The beautiful Island of Flowers (or Isle de Brehat) is a very popular destination for guests at Le Manoir and guests can go by ferry to the island from Paimpol – there are no cars on the island.

As you enter the entrance floor you will find a spiral staircase up to the first floor, a fully equipped kitchen, a sitting room, a galleried dining hall with a large open fire and a convenient kitchen serving the dining room. Inside facilities include Sky television, a DVD and video player (plus a selection of videos and DVDs), a Sony Playstation 2, a large selection of board games and books, laundry facilities, cots on request, high chairs and logs for the fire. The Grenier Apartment on the first floor is a beautiful open plan area with a kitchen, bathroom and three bedrooms (one double bedroom, one triple room with a single bed and bunk beds, and one single bedroom). On the second floor is a twin bedroom with an en suite bathroom. Outside there is a courtyard with a washroom with laundry and drying facilities. There is also a barn which is equipped with table tennis, table football, darts and other games. The grounds that belong privately to the manor house extend to 5 acres and are surrounded by quiet and peaceful farmland. There are plenty of areas to eat outside and a gas and charcoal BBQ is available for guests.

The large, indoor, heated swimming pool (6.5mx3.5m) is well equipped with sun chairs and tables and is surrounded by a raised decking area. Access to the water is controlled by lockable patio doors. There is a boules pitch and a soft sand tennis court. A children’s play area which includes a swing is also available. The grounds contain stunning gardens for walking in and lawns where ball games can be played. There are also two sheep and a small number of hens on the grounds which are safely fenced but can be of interest to younger guests. Guests are welcome to request the use of bicycles as well.

There is so much to do you have to plan your time carefully. Walk upto the stunning gardens which are situated above the Port for panoramic views of the Old Town, New Town, Port area with the Alps as the backdrop. Meander through the Old Town with its narrow streets and shops selling freshly made pasta, local cheeses, oils and wines to name a few. The Old Town opens up into the Cours Selaya a stunning market area selling every type of the freshest produce which brings out the chef in all of us! If you prefer someone else to do the cooking, choose one of the many excellent restaurants situated along the perimeter of the market all offering excellent food with outdoor seating, a better way to spend the day I have yet to find! The ocean is on you doorstep but also visit the nearby Ville Franche, a beautiful port village with sandy beach, a 10minute bus ride away, cost 1euro! On the rail service visit Grasse for perfume, Monaco for the Grand Prix, Cannes and Antibes to people watch.

There is a ski bus that leaves the Bus station (5 minute walk from the apartment) at 7.30am in the ski season to local ski resorts including Isola 2000 and Auron. The bus takes you directly to the ski resort where ski’s can be rented on a daily basis. The bus then leaves around 5pm to return to Nice around 7pm. The ski pass is included in the cost of the bus and must be booked 24 hours in advance at the bus station. 2009 price 30euro.
